METHOD FOR STARTING LOOM AND LOOM FOR EXECUTING SAID METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide a method for starting loom which prevents weft bars due to stoppage when the once stopped loom is restarted. CONSTITUTION: In a first phase of start, a cloth fell 15 is held at a prescribed distance from a bearing position 4' and warp insertion is prohibited and the loom is started while a shed forming mechanism 3 is driven together with at least one of a warp let-off mechanism 10 and a cloth take-up mechanism 12 via a controller 24 independently of the weaving program operatively predicted in such a manner that the warp threads 22 lying down at the cloth fell 5 are tied at each cycle during the weaving cycle of an idling state. As soon as the loom attains the driving state corresponding to an ordinary weaving motion, the cloth fell 15 is carried to the bearing position 4'. In a second phase of start, the shed forming mechanism and a unit cooperative therewith are driven according to the weaving program and the warp threads 22 are inserted into the shed 20 and the interrupted weaving process is restarted.
