PURPOSE:To provide the telephone set which is excellent in it man-machine interface, at the time of registering abbreviated dialnumbers. CONSTITUTION:A display element is provided with a first display area for displaying a list of an abbreviated number and the name of the other party registered in this abbreciated number list, and a second display area for displaying one pair of the abbreciated number and a dial number corresponding to this abbreciated number. At the time of registration of abbreviated dialnumbers, the list is displayed on a first display area. With respect to the displayed list, the abbreviated number is designated by a dial key or a cursor key, and when the dial number is inputted, the designated abbreviated number is displayed, and also, in accordance with an input of the dial number, this inputted dial number is displayed. When the input of the dial number is finished, this input dial number is registered in a memory so as to correspond to the abbreciated number.
