BRAKING APPARATUS OF SPINNING REEL FOR FISHING

PURPOSE:To stabilize the braking action of a reel-braking apparatus over a long period under a severe condition liable to cause the contamination with seawater, sand, etc., and to improve the durability of the apparatus by using a rolling member as a rear-drag type braking member of a spinning reel for fishing. CONSTITUTION:A spool 4 is fixed at the tip end of a spool shaft 5 of a spinning reel for fishing and a rotary member 8 is rotatably supported on the rear part of a reel casing 1. The rear part of the spool shaft 5 is inserted into the rotary member 8 in a state freely movable exclusively in axial direction to enable the integral rotation of the parts. A non-rotating member 12 is integrated to a cylindrical part 10 protruded from the rear end of the reel casing 1 in a state movable exclusively in axial direction. A rolling member 13 is placed between tapered circumferential surfaces 9, 11 formed on the opposite parts of the rotary member 8 and the non-rotating member 12. The position of the non-rotating member 12 in the axial direction is adjusted by a braking power controlling knob 14 screwed into the cylindrical part 10. The braking power to the reverse rotation of the spool shaft 5 can be controlled by adjusting the rolling and sliding friction resistance of the rolling member 13.
