Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To easily perform the vehicle speed control capable of coping with the change of the load capacity of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A retarder control device is provided with a retarder 1, an operating lever 13 operated to activate or stop the retarder 1, a retarder control means 103 controlling the action state of the retarder 1 in response to the operation state of the operating lever 13, a vehicle speed detecting means 115, a deceleration detecting means 101, and a target deceleration setting means 102 setting the target deceleration in response to the vehicle speed. The retarder control means 103 is provided with a retarder load state control means 104 controlling the load state by the retarder 1 in response to the difference between the detected deceleration when the vehicle speed is detected and the target deceleration.
