Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a scroll compressor which is quiet by reducing the generation of noise resultant from collision of the stationary scroll lap of the scroll compressor with the revolving scroll lap thereof and the generation of resonance noise in a suction chamber at the outer peripheral part of the stationary scroll lap. CONSTITUTION:A cavity part 19 having depth equal to or longer than a lap height is formed in the back of the terminal part of the lap 12 of a stationary scroll. A resiliently deformable damping member 22 is inserted in a contacted state in the inner wall surface of the cavity part 19, and the cavity part 19 is formed in a manner to have muffling capacity. A so formed scroll compressor is designed to damp vibration generated owing to collision between laps and muffle resonance noise generated in a suction chamber and reduce the generation of noise.
