METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MONITORING PIPELINE

PURPOSE:To obtain a method and device for monitoring a pipeline which can detect an event such as leakage in a pipeline rapidly and reliably and can determine the generation position of the event, generation time of the event, and the relative size of the pressure change accompanied by the event. CONSTITUTION:In the title method for monitoring a pipeline 1 where the generation of the transition phenomenon of pressure inducing the pressure bow wave propagating the inside of a fluid in the pipeline 1, a plurality of remote stations (for example, A-E) are installed while they are away by a known distance one another along the pipeline 1, an arrival time signal indicating the arrival to the bottom of the pressure turnover wave from the remote stations A-E is generated, it is determined whether the arrival time signal from each of the remote stations A-E corresponds to the same event or not, the generation position of the event generation a transition phenomenon at least along the pipeline 1 is obtained when it is determined that the arrival time signal corresponds to the same event, at the same time the pipeline 1 including a step for identifying the generation of the event is monitored.
