Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound having nematocidal activity (esp. for plant parasitic nematode, soil nematode), useful as a noxious organism controlling agent in plant protection. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen; A is ethylene or ethenylene), e.g. 2-[2-(2-furyl)ethyl]-6- methoxypyridine. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III in the presence of a lithium compound (e.g. lithium diisopropylamide) and a sodium compound (e.g. sodium hydroxide) in a solvent (e.g. hexane) under cooling to heating. This compound can control root-knot nematode, cisto nematode, etc., in agriculture, grapes raising, fruits raising, landscape architecture, or afforestation.
