GATE APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To ensure smooth passage for passers while making strict control of the passers possible. CONSTITUTION:In a gate apparatus 10 installed in a building, a station and the like to block an entrance/exit port A for controlling entering and leaving persons by means of sensing them individually, guide gate walls 20 and 20 are provided in parallel with each other and a passageway B is provided in between, and furthermore gate doors 30, 30... for opening and closing the passageway B and a driving device 40 are provided. The gate doors 30, 30... are hinged respectively to the guide gate walls 20 and 20 with perpendicular support shafts 31 so that they can be extended toward the passageway B by swinging in both directions; one facing one entrance/exit port that becomes an incoming port when passers enter therethrough and the other facing the other entrance/exit port that becomes the incoming port when the passers exit therethrough. The driving device 40 is equipped with driving power sources 41 that drive the gate doors 30, 30... in swing motions and retaining devices 50 that restrain the gate doors 30, 30... so that they cannot be swung forcibly toward both of entrance and exit directions.
