Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head wherein usage of heat resistant resin material is decreased and workability in a mounting stage is excellent by continuously discharging material for forming a heat resistant resin layer on a metallic substrate in a band shape, heating and burning it to form the heat resistant resin layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head is equipped with a metallic substrate 11 a heat resistant resin layer 12, an inorganic insulating layer 13, a heating resistor 14, thin film electrodes 15, 16 connected to the heating resistor 14 and a protective film 17 which are formed on the metallic substrate 11 in order. The heat resistant resin layer 12 is formed in a band shape so as to contain the lower part of the heating resistor of the part positioned between the thin film electrodes 15, 16.
