CONTACT TERMINAL

PURPOSE:To obtain with excellent mass-productivity a stabilized contact terminal, which has a large fixing strength, by tightly fitting a leg part of a rivet- shape contact in a cylindrical body obtained by folding a plate material, and enclosing a shoulder part of the rivet-shape contact in the periphery of the tip of the cylindrical body for tight fitting. CONSTITUTION:A plate material is folded into a cylindrical body 3, and a part of the periphery close to the end thereof at about 1mm is formed with a groove 1. Next, a leg part 7 of a rivet-shape contact 4 is pressed into one end of the cylindrical body 3, and thereafter, the side of the cylindrical body 3, in which the rivet-shape contact 4 is pressed-in, is inserted into a die 5, and the leg part 7 of the rivet-shape contact 4 is pushed by a punch 6 from the other end of the cylindrical body 3 so as to bite the groove 1 of the cylindrical body 3 to form a contact terminal. A contact terminal can be thereby manufactured with a few number of process, and since the contact terminal is formed into a cylindrical body, generation of heat at the time of opening and closing as an electric contact can be discharged effectively to manufacture a contact terminal having a long lifetime.
