Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a tower lifting-up or descending mechanism for a tower facility capable of loading or unloading transported items into or out of the tower by a method wherein a workability in extending or retracting work of the tower having an extending or retracting characteristic and having a cargo lifting mechanism can be improved and when the tower is extended, a transporting port for the transported item in the tower is opened without fail. CONSTITUTION:A tower 16 has extendable or retractable cylindrical members 32 to 34 within a base table 31 to which transporting ports 36 and 37 for the transported item 25 are opened. The tower 16 is comprised of a lifting-up or descending table 46 for lifting up the transported item 25 fed from the transporting ports 36 and 37 of the base table 31 up to the working stages 17 and 18 arranged at the upper part of the tower 16, and a lifting-up or descending device 66 for lifting-up or descending the lifting-up or descending table 46. The lifting-up or descending operation of the tower 16 can be carried out by connecting the cylindrical members 32 to 34 of each of the stages of the tower 16 and the rods 39 to 41 of each of the stages of a multi- stage tube type cylinder 38 for every corresponding stages.
