COSMETIC

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having synergistically improved beautifying effects, showing sufficiently make-up effects in the case of blending with a cosmetic, further excellent safety by using both an extract of crude saccharide or an extract of molasses having beautifying effect and a hydroquinone glucoside. CONSTITUTION:At least one (0.01-10wt.%) of a hydroquinone glucoside of the formula (R is pentose, hexose, amino sugar, uronic acid or its methylated substance) (especially preferably arbutin, namely hydroquinone beta-D-glucose because of excellent stability) is blended with preferably about 0.01-10wt.% extract of crude saccharide or extract of molasses to give a cosmetic. The extract of crude saccharide is obtained by dissolving crude saccharide or molasses in a proper amount of water, bringing the solution into contact with an adsorbent to adsorb a coloring matter component, washing the adsorbent with water, sufficiently removing a saccharide component, eluting the adsorbed coloring matter component, concentrating, etc. The extract of molasses is obtained by immersing molasses in a lower alcohol, then filtering, concentration and decoloring.
