DOCUMENT FILING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To retrieve a document including a key word, a classification code, etc., by registering recognition results of characters of the key word, classification code, etc., without correcting them. CONSTITUTION:The document to be registered is inputted to a document filing system main body 2 through a scanner 1, stored in an optical disk 6, and also transferred to an OCR 3. The OCR 3 recognizes title information in a document image, adds information showing whether title data converted into a character code need to be corrected or not, and transfers the information to the main body 2, so that the information is registered on the optical disk 6. When the title data transferred from the OCR 3 needs to be corrected, the title data is displayed on a display unit 4 and if the title data is not corrected, the character is registered by converting the characters into a symbol '?' showing characters which should have been corrected. When the document registered on the optical disk 6 is retrieved, the main body 2 selects the document whose title registered on the optical disk 6 agrees with a retrieval key word while considering that the symbol '?' is in accord with all the characters, and displays the document on the display unit 4.
