Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a new pyrroloazepine derivative having excellent anti-alpha1 action and anti-serotonin action and high safety and usable as a therapeutic agent for circulatory diseases. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R is H, 1-6C alkyl or 7-10C aralkyl; A is 2-10C alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene; Z is O, NOR1 (R1 is H, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl) or NOCOR5 (R5 is R1); Y is group of formula II to formula V (R2 is H or CN; R3 and R3' are (substituted)phenyl or (substituted)aralkyl; B is O, R, CO, (substituted)hydroxymethylene, SO, SO2 or (substituted)cyclic or acyclic acetal; (n) is 0 or 1)] or its salt, e.g. 7-benzyl-1-[4-(4-hexylpiperidin-1-yl) butyl]-6,7-dihydropyrrolo[2,3-C] azepine-4,8(1H,5H)-dione. The compound of formula I wherein Z is 0 can be produced by reacting a compound of formula VI with a compound of formula X-A-X' and reacting the resultant compound of formula VII with a compound of formula H-Y.
