SIDE TRIMMER DEVICE FOR STRIP

PURPOSE:To evade interference between the edge part of strip and a lower roll and to make the movement of stand possible by making both of an upper roll and lower roll freely approachable/separable to the surfaces of a strip. CONSTITUTION:Both upper and lower press rolls 5a, 5b are mutually opened and the respective press rolls 5a, 5b are separated from the respective surfaces of the strip 9. When the breadthwise movement of a stand 3 is executed in this state, the lower roll 5b can be slipped into the underside of a narrow material without interfering with the edge of the narrow material. When the lower roll 5b comes to a position where the lower roll is overlapped with the edge part of the narrow material, the lower roll 5b is raised, brought into contact with the undersurface of the narrow material and the strip 9 is lifted to the height of the outer peripheral surface of a lower knife 4b. Then the stand 3 is moved in the breadthwise direction, and positioning the knives 4a, 4b corresponding to a cutting line and, when the strip 9 is held between the rolls by lowering the lower roll 5a, the knives 4a, 4b can be surely set in a prescribed position.
