TARGET SPEED MAKING SYSTEM FOR DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE:To achieve high speed seek operation at low cost by dividing max. moving speed of a head to a target position equally into N and storing previously the information of track differences corresponding to these equally N-divided individual speed values into a storage means. CONSTITUTION:The max. moving speed of a pickup to a target position is divided equally into N, and the information of track differences corresponding to the equally N-divided individual speed values is stored previously in a table 10c. Then, at the time of seek operation, a target speed corresponding to a track difference to a target position is calculated by a target speed calculating part 10d in order to interpolate the number of bits. By this method, a general- use memory can be used even with a small memory capacity, so that high speed seek operation can be achieved at low cost.
