Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide a start point detection optical path in simple structure which eliminates the need for a special reflecting member and its support structure and decreases the number of components, assembly man-hours, and position adjustment man-hours. CONSTITUTION:This light beam scanning device is equipped with a deflecting means 1 which deflects a light beam 3 by swinging or rotation to repeatedly scan an object surface 4, and start point detecting means 5 and 7 which detects the light beam 3 reaching a start point position where image write timing is detected by a return optical path 5; and the start point detecting means 5 and 7 form the return optical path 5 with a reflecting surface 6c provided to part of a lens 6, etc., arranged between the deflecting means 1 and scanned surface 4 for scanning performance.
