Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To provide a means suitable for efficiently connecting low NA multi- mode optical fiber bundles to a laser diode array. CONSTITUTION: Before butting and connecting the outputs of the laser diode array 12, 14, 16 to optical fiber bundles 18, 20, 22, radiation outputs from the laser diodes 12, 14, 16 are paralleled by using a small diameter multi-mode optical fiber having a small numerical aperture (i.e., 0.1) as a microlens 26. The diameter of an optical fiber to be used as the microlens 26 is selected so as to be almost equal to the diameter of a coated optical fiber of fiber bundles 18, 20, 22 to be connected to the laser diodes 12, 14, 16. The paralleling of outputs from the laser diodes 12, 14, 16 is executed in its high NA direction.
