PURPOSE:To permit the hot water sterilization or sterilization of a container, by replacing the gas-barrier thermoplastic resin layer of the mouth and central part of bottom of the container with a single layer of polyester. CONSTITUTION:A container 40 consists of a mouth 41, a shoulder 42, a body wall 43 and bottom 44. The body wall 43 is a laminate composed of an inner layer 46 and an outer layer 47, both consisting of a thermoplastic polyester having a nearly uniform thickness, and an intermediate layer 48 provided therebetween and consisting of a gas-barrier thermoplastic resin. The mouth 41 is a single layer structure consisting of only a thermoplastic polyester and heat crystallized to a crystallinity by density method of not less than 25%. The central part 45 of the bottom 44 is also a single layer structure consisting of only a thermoplastic polyester and heat crystallized to a crystallinity of not less than 25%. As a result, the heat conduction of the container is effected satisfactorily in its entirety, thereby controlling the deformation and swelling thereof almost completely upon hot water sterilization or sterilization.
