NOISE REDUCTION CIRCUIT FOR PICTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture with higher picture quality by reducing a remarkable fog of the picture at a specific moving frequency band with respect to the picture noise reduction circuit. CONSTITUTION:The picture noise reduction circuit provided with a picture delay means 1 delaying an original picture by N fields (N is a positive integer), a motion detection means 2 detecting a difference between a delayed picture and an original picture, a compensation signal generating means 5 generating a compensation signal for noise reduction in response to a detection output from the motion detection means, and a mixing means 4 mixing a compensation signal obtained by the compensation signal generating means to the original picture to cancel the noise component in the original picture, is provided with an extract means extracting a prescribed frequency band component from a detection output of the motion detection means 2 and a level detection means 7 detecting a signal level of the extracted frequency band component to control variably the compensation signal in response to the signal level detected by the level detection means 7.
