Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To electrolytically produce fluorine stably for a long period of time with high productivity by electrolyzing a fused salt mixture bath essentially consisting of KF and HF and executing the electrolysis by using a carbon or graphite anode having a specific surface layer consisting of C, F and metal. CONSTITUTION:The fused salt mixture essentially consisting of the KF and HF is used as the electrolytic bath and the fluorine is obtd. by the electrolysis. The carbon or graphite electrode having the surface layer of the compsn. expressed by the general formula CxMyFz (where M: group II metal or the periodic table or mixture composed of group I and/or III metals, x; integer in the range of 90-160, y; integer in the range of 2-8, z; integer in the range of 8-20) on the surface is used as the anode of this time. This anode can be formed by allowing the above-mentioned M to coexist in the above-mentioned electrolytic bath and executing the electrolysis by using the carbon or graphite electrode while energizing the same at the alternately switched inter-electrode polarities. Generation of an anode effect is thereby prevented over a long period of time and the electrolytic production of the fluorine is executes stably over a long period of time with less energy consumption and high productivity.
