Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of required catalyzer and prevent clogging at the inlet and outlet portions of the reactive gas supply grooves, by cutting the side portions off each gas electrode, which side portions cover both the inlet and the outlet portions of the reactive gas supply grooves by the width corresponding to the width of the seal surface on the gas supply plate, and providing a band-shaped insulating thin plate at the portions where the electrodes are cut off. CONSTITUTION:The side portions of the air electrode and the hydrogen electrode covering both the inlet and the outlet portions of the gas supply grooves 3 and 5, or the side portions opposing the seal surface 4 (in the case of the air electrode) or the seal surface 2 (in the case of the hydrogen electrode) through the matrix M, are cut off and band-shaped insulating thin plates 7P and 7N are provided at the places where the electrodes are cut off. By way of example, the gas electrodes P and N are cut shorter by about 10mm. than the conventional electrode at their both side portions which are perpendicular to the respective gas supply grooves 3 and 5, and the other side portions are, like the conventional electrodes, fitted in between the both seal surfaces 2, 2 and 4, 4, wherein the band-shaped insulating plate 7P, 7N are joined to their respective gas electrodes P and N where the both ends of the electrodes are cut off and fitted in between the both seal surfaces covering their respective gas supply grooves 3, 5.
