Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a compact, light-weight abrasion measuring apparatus of a light quantity type mounted on a measuring vehicle which can measure the abrasion of a trolley line day and night during running. CONSTITUTION:This measuring apparatus is constituted of a supporting mechanism 9 having a movable arm 94 which can move in the longitudinal direction and can rotate in the horizontal direction, a following base 97, an optical system and a signal processing part 8. The following base 97 has rollers 98a, 98b mounted at an end of the movable arm to be in touch with a trolley line 1 and following the shift of the trolley line in the longitudinal and lateral directions. The optical system 7 is comprised of a light projecting part 72 which is mounted on the following base close to the side faces of the trolley line, and a photodetecting part 73 with a filter to shut the light from outside. One of the side faces of the trolley line is scanned in the longitudinal direction with parallel laser beams projected in the horizontal direction from the projecting part. The laser beams not interrupted by the trolley line are detected by the photodetecting part at the other side face of the trolley line. The residual diameter of the trolley line is thus measured by processing the photodetecting signal in the signal processing part.
