Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:A water-based ink, consisting of water, water-soluble organic solvent, water-soluble dye and specific polyol ether compound as a humectant, having improved drying resistance and suitable for writing utensils, stamps, printing, ink jet printers, etc. CONSTITUTION:A water-based ink consisting of (A) preferably 50-85wt% water, (B) preferably 1-40wt% water-soluble organic solvent, e.g. ethylene glycol, (C) preferably 0.5-15wt% water-soluble dye, e.g. C.I. Direct Black 17, and (D) preferably 0.5-30wt% polyol ether compound expressed by the formula (R is 8-18C aliphatic hydrocarbon) as a humectant.
