Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the method and device for applying a lubricant which improves the effect of sticking the lubricant to the surface of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A soln. prepd. by dissolving the lubricant is pulverized by an atomizer 5 at the time of forming a lubricating film. These particles are carried by a carrier gas to a nozzle 3 and are ejected therefrom. The lubricant particles are electrified by a needle 2 impressed with a voltage and are attracted toward a disk by the electric field between the needle 2 and the disk 1. The lubricating film contg. the lubricant uniformized in the grain size is thus applied on the magnetic recording medium and, therefore, the lubricating film is formed at high coverage.
