DOCUMENT PROCESSOR

PURPOSE:To properly and efficiently execute 'KANA' (Japanese syllabary)/'KANJI' (Chinese character) conversion in consideration of the format of a document by providing this document processor with a priority order changing means for changing the priority order of word selection based upon format data indicating the format of each document. CONSTITUTION:When input from a keyboard 5 is executed, an interrupt signal is sent to a CPU 1, which reads out various control signals stored in a ROM 2 based upon the input signal and executes character processing. Format setting data, format names and mode data are stored in a format table 3a formed in a RAM 3 correspondingly to respective formats. The mode data indicate whether the 'KANA'/'KANJI' conversion of words specific to a place name or a personal name is to be executed with priority or suppression. In the case of processing document data including a format for inputting place names and personal names more than normal quantity, processing for converting the place names and personal names with priority is executed, and in the case of processing a general document other than the above specific document, 'KANA'/'KANJI' conversion suppressing the conversion of place names and personal names is executed.
