Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To turn a shield excavator without applying excessive load and displacement to the ground by using a control system automatically judging the quality of the turning radius in consideration of the soil property. CONSTITUTION:When a shield excavator is turned for an excavation, the turning radius R and the turning center C are inputted to a control device 14 via an input device 16. When the turning radius R set by an operator is judged satisfactory by the control device, a shield jack 9 is driven and controlled by a shield sequencer 18 for an excavation along a circular arc specified by this turning radius R. When it is displayed on a display 17 that the set turning radius R is inadequate, the operator cancels the previous turning radius and sets a new turning radius. When it is judged satisfactory, the shield jack 9 is driven and controlled for an excavation along the circular arc specified by the new turning radius.
