Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To simply extend the service life of a furnace dispensing with charging of auxiliary raw material into molten slag and mechanical device, etc. CONSTITUTION:In a converter 1, beforehand, Fe-Si is charged and successively, garnierite containing >=20wt.% MgO and coke are charged into molten iron to execute smelting reduction. When the MgO content in the slag 3 floated up on the molten Ni 2 becomes >=30wt.%, by tilting the converter 1, the molten Ni 2 is tapped off and the slag is removed and adjusted to the slag quantity needed to coating, and after making the converter 1 under the normal condition, the converter 1 is tilted to the front and rear sides and the slag coating is executed to complete the slag coating on lining 8 of the converter 1. By this method, the service life of the furnace can simply be extended.
