Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal composition, composed of a specific diphenylacetylene derivative compound and/or a bicyclohexylphenyl derivative, having a high refractive index anisotropy without deteriorating voltage retaining characteristics and suitable as active matrix drive display. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition containing (A) a compound group of formula I (R is 1-10C alkyl; R is H or fluorine atom; m is 0 or 1), (B) a compound group of formula II (R is 1-10C alkyl; R is H, fluorine atom or methyl; R is 1-10C alkyl or alkoxyl; m is 0 or 1) and/or (C) a compound of formula III (R is 1-10C alkyl, alkenyl or ether group).
