MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To prevent the separation of magnetic powder from a nonmagnetic substrate so as to obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent durability by coating the magnetic powder with a resin containing an epoxy resin after once coating the powder with a triazine thiol compound. CONSTITUTION:For this magnetic recording medium provided with a magnetic layer 2 composed of magnetic powder and a binder on a nonmagnetic substrate 1, the magnetic powder is coated with a resin containing an epoxy group after the powder is once coated with a triazine thiol compound. Since the magnetic powder thus coated is scattered in the binder having a glass-transition temperature higher than that of the resin containing the epoxy group and protected by a so-called double structure of resin, the shock resistance of the magnetic layer is improved and the occurrence or growth of a defect is prevented. As a result, separation of the magnetic powder from the nonmagnetic substrate can be prevented and a magnetic recording medium having excellent durability can be obtained. It is preferable to polymerize the triazine thiol compound with the resin containing the epoxy group.
