METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TRANSFERRING SHEET MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To secure the sheet material consisting of a plurality of sheets having different widths on a mounting member so firmly as to avoid the shift of the sheet materials. CONSTITUTION:A sheet material transfer device which comprises a Y rail 14 supported along the X axis guide of a table 12 and movable parallel thereto; a head 18 movable along the Y rail 14, the head having a cutter 20 or pen adapted to make a predetermined cutting or mark, respectively, on a sheet material 54 placed on a mounting member 26 (belt conveyor) on the table 12; a rail body 16 supported on the X axis guide and movable parallel thereto; and a carrier 30 having a needle 34 mounted to the rail body, the needle 34 being lowered to be thrust into the sheet material 54 and then into the mounting member 26 to fix the sheet material 54 therein, whereby the mounting member 26 is driven along the table 12 in a predetermined direction to transfer the sheet material 54 onto the table 12 in conjunction with the mounting member 26 or whereby the rail body 16 is driven along the table 12 to transfer the sheet material 54 thereonto.
