PURPOSE:To improve the sentence input efficiency by storing additional information for discrimination display for corrected sentence data in a storage means and simultaneously displaying corrected sentence data and this additional information to simplify the work where an operator proofreads sentences while confirming whether correction is possible or not. CONSTITUTION:When data taken into a display memory 6 from a sentence memory 4 is stored in a document storage part and an input device 2 for character correction is operated in this state, a controller 1 stores an inputted character code string in the document storage part. Next, the start address and the end address of the character code string in the document storage part are set to a correction character address table, and the character code is set to a display code buffer. When the address indicated by a pointer is included in the correction character address table, contents of the display code buffer and those of additional information for display using half-tone screen are synthesized and are displayed on a display device 3.
