PURPOSE:To obtain a magneto-optical disk to which countermeasure for a track jump is taken at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal is recorded by data compression and reproduced by data expansion on the magneto-optical disk 1 by means of an optical pickup 3 and a magnetic head 5. In this magneto-optical disk, a DRAM 11 for temporarily storing compressed data to be recorded and having capacity more than the track's content of the outermost peripheral track of the magneto-optical disk 1 and a track jump detecting circuit 17 detecting the track jump of the optical pickup 3 are provided. By returning the position of the optical pickup 3 and the read address of the DRAM 11 to the position before the track jump occurred by means of the output signal from the track jump detecting circuit 17 at the time of recording, overwrite is performed from the data present before the position of track jump.
