Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To simultaneously fusion splice plural quartz optical waveguides and plural optical fibers at a low loss with good reproducibility without variations. CONSTITUTION:Laser beams 3, 4 emitted from CO2 laser oscillators 1, 2 are respectively branched to a plurality and are introduced to the respective fusion splicing parts 35 to 38 of the plural quartz optical waveguides 27 to 30 and the plural optical fibers 31 to 34. The respective laser beams 7 to 10 are separately condensed by plural condenser lenses 23 to 26. The fusion splicing parts 35 to 38 are irradiated with these beams. A method for superposing >=2 beams of CO2 laser beams on each other and irradiating the fusion splicing parts 35 to 38 so as to equal the temps. of all these parts is adopted as well.
