A knowledge data base 10 is constructed by using the parameters and information regarding operating conditions, such as the number of charges, applicable steel kinds, etc., and based on the knowledge of experts. When inference is executed by using the data base 10, the optimum repairing method can be decided in accordance with the deteriorated state of refractories. When the decided results are inputted to such a repairing device as a refractory repairing material spraying device, automatic repairing can be performed.
