Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To equip a lithium secondary battery with a high grade of energy density and excellent cyclic characteristics by using a negative electrode body which is prepared by subjecting carbon black heat treated under specific conditions to doping with lithium efficiently and stably. CONSTITUTION:Lithium for negative electrode active material is borne by carbon black which was heat treated at a temp. over 900 deg.C in an inert atmosphere and which has an arithmeticallly averaged primary particle size of below 70nm, and thus a negative electrode body is formed for a lithium secondary battery concerned. The carbon black after heat treatment preferably has a G value of 0.15 or less as determined from the equation G(gram equivalent/100g carbon black) = [oxygen quantity in %/8] + hydrogen quantity in % and has a pH of 9.0 or more.
