Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To simply produce a multi-branched polymer consisting of a core polymer component and an arm polymer component, using isobutylene as a main component monomer constituting the graft polymer component and useful as a viscosity controlling agent, etc., for lubricating oil. CONSTITUTION:The objective multi-branched polymer consists of a core polymer component and an arm polymer component and is produced by carrying out cationic polymerization in a step producing a core polymer component by polymerizing a monomer having >=2 cationic-polymerizable unsaturated bond and a step producing the arm polymer component by polymerizing a monofunctional cationic-polymerizable monomer consisting essentially of isobutylene.
