AGENT FOR TREATMENT OF DISEASE RELATING TO SEROTONIN NERVE SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To obtain an agent for the treatment of diseases relating to serotonin nerve system such as antianxiety agent, antidepressant and antiemetic agent by using a 2-alkoxyquinoxaline derivative as an active component. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I ((n) is 2-4; R1 is H or methyl; R2 is substituted phenyl) or its non-toxic salt, e.g. 2-[2-{4-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)-1- piperazinyl}ethoxy]quinoxaline, is used as an active component of the objective agent. The compounds of formula I are mostly new compounds and producible by reacting a new compound of formula II (X is eliminable group) with a compound of formula III in an inert solvent. The compound of formula II is obtained e.g. by reacting a compound of formula IV with a compound of formula V (Y is halogen; X' is OH or halogen). The compound of formula I has high affinity to serotonin 1A receptor and has actions on diseases relating to serotonin nerve system, e.g. antianxiety action, antidepressant action and antiemetic action.
