PURPOSE:To automate a series of work of press-fitting contact pins into each of the backboards so as to substantially reduce time for assembling an electric device by providing a press-fitting device for contact pins with respective units for feeding, transporting and delivering works, a press-fitting unit and a sequencer which controls operations of all these units. CONSTITUTION:When a stocker into which many groups of contact pins are loaded is inserted into a work feed unit 100, the oscillating movement of the unit 100 causes the group of contact pins forming one sheet to be separated from the others. Then the group of contact pins are transported to a press-fitting unit 400 by a work transport unit 200 and a work delivery unit 300. Then the unit 400 press-fits the received group of contact pins respectively into holes formed through a backboard 2. A press- fitting device for contact pins is provided with a sequencer 50 for controlling operations of the respective units while controlling setting of the backboard 2 in any position so that it may automatically carry out a series of operations for press-fitting the groups of contact pins respectively into the backboards 2. This can automate a series of work of press-fitting the groups of contact pins respectively into the backboards 2 except that workers spend time only for the feed of both the group of contact pins and the backboard 2 to the press-fitting device.
