PURPOSE:To obtain a simulation method and a device capable of completely simulating a single chip microcomputer without using hardware and improving the efficiency of debugging for an objective program. CONSTITUTION:The single chip microcomputer simulation system and a simulator obtained by integrating a simulation kernel 10 for simulating a target single chip microcomputer and a simulator main body 7 including an I/O simulator 13 in a central processing unit (CPU) 6, reading a program 4 to be debugged and an event information defining file 5 in a disk device 3 and debugging the program 4 based upon data obtained from respective parts is constituted so as to monitor various timing for starting the formation of external events by interlocking with the program 4 and supply an external event signal concerned to the I/O chip of the single chip microcomputer. The file 5 can be freely edited in a machine.
