PURPOSE:To prevent rippling irregularity on an image by allowing a transfer guide plate to come close to a photosensitive drum or decreasing the speed of a resist roller which allows a transfer material to advance to the transfer guide plate when a toner image is transferred on the transfer material whose Clark degree is large. CONSTITUTION:A special mode is selected by a special mode key in the case that the transfer material whose Clark degree is >=70cm /100 is used. In the special mode, a solenoid 18 is turned on, and the front side of the transfer guide plate 8 is actuated to approach the photosensitive drum 1 side with a stepped screw 15a on an inner side as a fulcrum. After the transfer material finishes passing the transfer guide plate 8, the solenoid 18 is turned off before the rotation of the photosensitive drum 1 is stopped, and the front side of the plate 8 is returned to a home position by the force of a spring 20.
