PURPOSE:To provide the ophthalmometer which can fix an eye examining means of an ophthalmic type at a prescribed inclined angle in a stable state, and can perform surely an eye examination of near vision in a state being approximate to an actual use state of spectacles. CONSTITUTION:In the ophthalmometer 1 for supporting an eye examining means having an optical unit so as to be turnable by a supporting member, this meter is provided with detaining/turning means 11A, 11B for turning eye examining means 6A, 6B within a range from a vertical position to a prescribed inclined angle, and also, fixing the eye examining means 6A, 6B to a turning position, extending over the supporting member 5 and the eye examining means 6A, 6B. According to this constitution, the eye examining means 6A, 6B can be turned arbitrarily, and also, in a stable state within a range from the vertical position to the prescribed inclined angle, and by arranging the eye examining means 6A, 6B in a state being approximate to an actual use state of spectacles, an eye examination of near vision can be performed surely.
