Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To inspect misfire from the size of waveforms of vibration generated at the time of misfire by using a vibration sensor such as a knock sensor already furnished at an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A signal of a misfire element featuring misfire generated at the time of misfire is extracted by means of a digital filter 4 through an LPF 2, an ADC 3 from the signal of a vibration sensor 1 detecting engine vibration. And the maximum level of the digital signal at the electric discharge period of an ignition time signal is detected at a maximum value detecting portion 74. Also, the minimum level of the digital signal at the electric charge period of the ignition time signal is detected at a minimum value detecting portion 75. In addition, at a misfire deciding portion 76, misfire can be detected by conducting decision in comparison with a normal ignition time by means of a decision reference value memorized at a memory 78.
