PURPOSE:To carry out stable combustion with a little amount of fuel in a gas burner for absorption cold water or hot water machine by a method wherein there is provided a second pilot burner having a combustion amount larger than that of an ignition pilot burner and less than a half of the combustion amount of a main burner in addition to the ignition pilot burner or the main burner for over-heating operation. CONSTITUTION:In a proportional controlled gas burner, gas is supplied to a gas manihold 5 through a filter 1, a shielding valve 2, a control valve 3 and a manual shut-off valve 4 and the like. In turn, combustion air is sucked by a fan 6 from outside the gas burner and supplied to an air duct 7. A part of gas passes through a pilot gas pipe 8 and is supplied to a pilot burner 11, mixed with air supplied through an air pipe 12 so as to form a pilot flame. In this case, a main body of the burner is provided with a second pilot burner 21 having combustion amount of about 5% to the main burner. In the case that a temperature of cold water is lower than its set temperature, the flame at the main burner is diminished and only the pilot burner 21 shows the combustion state to assure a stable combustion having low volume.
