Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound free from toxicity, having an esterogenic action developed by bonding to estrogen receptor and, consequently, useful for the treatment of gynecological diseases, prostatic cancer, etc., caused by the deficiency of estrogen. CONSTITUTION:2,4-Dihydroxy-4,6-dimethoxyretrodihydrochalcone of formula having the following properties. Appearance, colorless acicular crystal; melting point, 158-160 deg.C; solubility, soluble in methanol, acetone, etc., moderately soluble in chloroform and scarcely soluble in n-hexane and water. The compound can be separated from Chang Daeng which is a crude herb drug grown in Thailand. Concretely, it is produced e.g. by cutting Chang Daeng into small pieces, extracting with a solvent such as water and alcohol, concentrating the extract, removing fat-soluble component, removing water-containing alcohol layer, dissolving the residue in water, extracting with a solvent having low polarity and finally purifying the extract.
