RADAR-SIGNAL PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To reduce an irregularity in the value of a relative velocity when a vehicle is stopped or the like by a method wherein a piece of Doppler velocity data and a piece of differential velocity data which have been computed are compared and both pieces of data are used selectively according to the result. CONSTITUTION:A distance up to a target object and a relative velocity as a piece of Doppler velocity data are operated on the basis of a signal from a vehicle velocity sensor. Then, a piece of differential velocity data is operated. It is judged whether its polarity is the same as the polarity of the piece of Doppler velocity data or not. When both velocities coincide, it is judged whether the difference between both pieces of data is larger than a prescribed value or not. When the difference is small, the piece of Doppler velocity data is set as a value for the relative velocity. On the other hand, when the difference is large, the piece of differential velocity data is set as the relative velocity. In this case, instead of setting the piece of differential velocity data, the value of a relative velocity which has been set last time may be held as it is.
