SPACE SHUTTLE

PURPOSE:To provide high rigidity and high strength and improve heat insulation and heat resistance, in a post for supporting a surface panel and a main structural panel. CONSTITUTION:A heat protecting material for a space shuttle is constituted by connecting a surface panel 1 to a main structural panel 2 through a post 3 of shell structure. By forming the supporting post 3 into the shell structure of hollow cylindrical shape or the like, the surface panel, even when a surface pressure is applied, can be supported with no destruction by improving regidity and strength of the post. A quality of the supporting post 3 is changed, and heat insulation can be provided in the surface panel 1 and the main structural panel 2. By rearranging the supporting post 3, the panel can be supported with no destruction even when elongation is generated in the surface panel 1 by thermal expansion.
