CONSTITUTION: A light beam supplied from a light source 82 is emitted on an acoustooptical modulator 92, via a beam expander lens system 86, and the beam is modulated in the acoustooptical modulator 92 by information included in an electric video signal, whose pulse width is modulated and supplied from a control circuit 94. The modulated beam is collimated and Fourier-transformed by an anamorphic lens system 108, and the result is filtered by a spatial frequency band-pass filter 136. Thus, a medium level output is generated.
