Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To manufacture a dull roll excellent in wear resistance through minimum number of stages by forming a thick autogenous alloy layer on the surface of the roll, then, dull-working it with high density energy beam. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the base material 1 of the roll is roughed by shot blasting, etc., then, the autogenous alloy 2 is formed by thermal spraying on the uniformly preheated surface of the base material of the roll. As soon as it is formed, the surface temperature of the film is elevated to melt the film again. At this time, after the film is held at a fixed temperature so that it is not overheated, it is cooled uniformly and gradually. After the surface of the film is ground and finished, projections 3 are formed by high density energy beam such as pulse laser, etc., on the surface of the film. As a result, the surface can be dull-worked again by re-grinding the autogenous alloy film 2, no film formation and no pretreatment for another dull working are needed and it is possible to form dull-worked projections 3 excellent in wear resistance.
