Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent the damage to a support insulator in an electric precipitator by detecting the lowering of the electric insulating function of the support insulator. CONSTITUTION:Conductive chips 36, 42 are attached to the insulator main body 12a of a support insulator 12 and ammeters 40, 46 measuring the leak current of the support insulator 12 are connected to the conductive chips 36, 42 to measure the leak current of the support insulator 12 and, when the measured current exceeds the min. tolerant value causing the damage to the support insulator 12, the heater 52 heating the support insulator 12 and an air seal are inspected to prevent the damage to the support insulator 12.
